Saturday With My Momma: Shotgun-Touring, Oyster-Eating, Luck-At- The-Auction Having Good Time!
 April 2, 2011
This past Saturday was the kind of Saturday that you get once a year in New Orleans. Seventy-five degrees with a breeze and sun kissing your cheeks all day long. I had heard about the Shotgun House tour by the PRC (Preservation Resource Center) from a few of my friends, and I figured it would be the *perfect* thing to share with my momma. My mom is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to homes, history, design, space planning, plants, architecture, cooking, and on and on. I loved touring these homes with her - getting inspiration, hearing about how well and conversely ineffectively they used the space, etc. We stopped half way through the 11-house tour to grab sushi and finished our day by checking in at St. Charles Auction only to find out that the chairs my mom had absentee bid on were ours! Mine to be more precise! My mom is also one of the most thoughtful people I know. Thanks Momma! Love you!
(p.s. Shamless plug - my mom has a book signing this Saturday in Los Angeles! Go get your Los Angeles Classic Desserts book and have her sign it! Barnes & Noble on Ventura Blvd.)
Accessories: Coach Poppy earrings, Petit Four ring, Tag watch, Ray Ban Shades, Old Nine West faux ostrich bag
Shoes: UO
Forever 21 sweater (recently here) and Leah’s JBrand skinny cargos
C’est la vie lovers!

Dreamy Zen garden at the first house.

I was super inspired by Valorie Hart's house - I took TONS of pictures!

Look at how she layers. Look at how she ties the room together.

I want this for a dining room table - old iron throw-away, made new with a piece of glass!

Sunny with a breeze.

Bricks are best.

Petit four ring!

Oysters for lunch.

Cute inspiration for a kitchen - come to the diner!

My new project!

LA Friends - Go see my mom! View high resolution
