Monday Monday
Hope everyone’s Monday is ending better than it started.  I had a wonderful weekend and look forward to the next few weeks and months.  Here are a few photos bringing me joy.

It’s My Birthday
Words seem trivial and useless when trying to express the inconceivable amount of stimulation and happiness that I have experienced in the last two weeks.Even the thirty six hour food poisoning spell was food poisoning in…PARIS!
Today I turn 31 and as John Rouchell tells me, I can “officially stop counting.” Amen! So rather than count, or write, I’d rather show how amazing the last fourteen days have been.  Today I am grateful for the unending love and support of JM (and Momma Lyn & John who made a dream come true) and the love of my family and amazing friends.  Thanks for making me feel so special.
Merci beaucoup.

Friday Faves
There is so much to be happy about today: it’s Friday and more importantly it’s Carnival!
We finally got out to parades last night (thank goodness) and I snapped a few photos with my new lens (thanks for the suggestion Sarah!).
Here are a few things making me happy.  Happy Carnival y’all!!

My friend Brett makes me so happy (and he has the best laugh in the world).

Float inspired by me and my family.

Japanese Magnolias.

Captured my sweet friend Lisette and the bearded oysters.

O. Perry is quickly becoming a favorite marching band, rivaled by St. Aug’s Marching 100 and Mc Main.

Kale Ceasar salad.

LED butterflies.

Wacky Wednesday: NOMA, R & O’s and falling in mud
On a scale of one to ten, ten being the glamorous-ness of runway shows in Paris, I am a zero when it comes to glam.  I am so “real” it’s painful.  For example, last Wednesday, JM and I miraculously had a day off that we chose to spend with each other doing all the things we absolutely love to do.  After a delicious seafood lunch at R & O’s in Bucktown, I glanced over at the harbor (across the street) and thought, “Oh wouldn’t that be a fun backdrop for some photos”.  We began to scale the muddy hill and not more than ten steps in did I totally eat it.  Laughing hysterically, I begged JM to grab the camera and at least document what a clumsy thing I was (photo above).
I got my bearings and the rest of the day was magical.  We spent the better part of the afternoon at the Lifelike exhibit at NOMA and indulging in a trip to the movies to see Silver Linings Playbook.  A day with the best friend is exactly what we needed before plunging back into work.

Baby Shower
Last Sunday we got together to celebrate my dear friend Sarah’s baby girl.  Sarah designs Saint Claude jewelry which I’ve mentioned on here more than a few times (here, here and here are some of my favorites).  We laughed, painted onesies and enjoyed a glorious Sunday in the middle of the French Quarter in the middle of Super Gras.

PARIS PACKING
Hi. My name is Kate. I have packing anxiety.
Let me just be real, I’ve been staying up at night trying to figure out exactly what I’m going to wear for ten fabulous (albeit a bit wet) days in Paris.  I think this finally put my mind at ease: getting it all together on one Polyvore sheet. Whew.  Some essentials: Nike kicks, black tights, bright sweaters, military jacket, fur vest, vintage wool cape, statement jewelry and my galaxy pants, naturally.

FRIDAY FAVES (on Saturday)
It’s nice to end the week being grateful for all the little things in life.  This is my most favorite time of year in New Orleans: the moment between Carnival and Jazz Fest when it’s a beautiful sixty-something and sunny outside.  When our culture is at it’s peak. When friends are having babies and everyone is truly optimistic about the next several months of the year.  It’s a wonderful time to look around  you and realize just how lucky you are.
Here are a few things making me smile. Happy weekend y’all!
{Photo Above: For Christmas, my Mom gave us all this photo of her in Acapulco - taken two weeks before she married my dad.  I glance at it whenever I need an insta-grin.}

NOLA x NOLAFW
I am excited thrilled to announce that Showroom South will act as the ‘buyer liaison’ between New Orleans Fashion Week and regional retail buyers.  Laura and I are excited about this new venture with the New Orleans Fashion Council and will keep you posted (if you’re a buyer, please expect your “Save The Date” very soon!) on everything #NOLAFW.
Here I styled the “Heart NOLA” tee with my go-to leather skirt, puffy vest, military boots and some bright, bulky jewels (my mom’s best friend gave us girls these beautiful necklaces made by a woman in San Francisco’s Chinatown at Christmas - so sweet and now my sisters, mom and I have matching jewelry!).
How do you #heartnola?

Office Space
Here’s where the magic happens.  Hah. Just kidding.  I was particularly inspired by the fact that I could incorporate these big, juicy Christmas lights into everyday life.  Here are a few photos of my (Showroom South) work space. Enjoy!

Re-strung lights.

Sharpie’s like whoa.

Old Jazz Fest signs, Passports (begging to be used in February), lithograph art by my niece, Grace Rose, Alexa Pulitzer handy journals, thin Sharpie’s.

Business card container, tape & glue.

My coveted water cup designed by my best friends son, William.

The pen I’ve used since high school: Pentel R.S.V.P. fine point.

Poster wall (Kopecky Family Band plays next week!), hoodoovoodoo stick, record player.

My sweet (and silent) office companion. View high resolution
